Three-quarters of a day in Cradle Mountain clearly wasn’t going to be enough. When I first saw photos of it in social media, it reminded me of Queenstown in New Zealand even though I haven’t been, but is also in my to-go-visit list!
Cradle Mountain is around a 2hr 30 minute-drive from Launceston. My brother drove us there and it is one of the scariest routes I have witnessed in my entire life! LOL. There were many turns, zig-zags and steep roads. I got slightly dizzy and nauseous from the drive but it eased off as soon as we got there. We decided to stay at Cradle Mountain Hotel. I loved the cozy and inviting ambiance of the place, especially the reception area. The staff and service were exceptional.
This glass door leads to a kitchen hall. I loved their salad! Their buffet dinner was also amazing.
Dove Lake was one of the places I wanted to visit. There is a shuttle drive that comes by every 30 mins to take you there, but we decided to just drive there since the cut off time for the shuttle bus was at 6 pm—we knew there was a good chance we were going to stay longer. Fortunately, due to the weather, there were still lots of free parking space.
It was freezing-cold when we arrived there. We had to to go inside the car a few times to warm ourselves back up. Our clothing wasn’t enough for the cold weather.

My favourite photo! The last time we went on a complete family trip was 3 years ago during our Philippines trip
Till next time Launceston! I hope to come back to sunnier weather.
